Digital Sound Projector™ technology is available to licence and
provides a unique ability to accurately control 'beams of sound'. This
technology has been implemented, under licence, in home theatre products
such as the Yamaha YSP range and the Loewe Individual Sound Projector.
Micronas Semiconductors can supply Sound Projector as an audio SoC DSP
solution, providing TV, PC and games console manufacturers with true 5.1
surround sound from a single loudspeaker panel. Other applications include
commercial cinemas, PC loudspeakers and directional PA systems.
The Latest models from Yamaha and Loewe, the YSP3000 and the Loewe Individual
Sound Projector both launched in late 2007.

“When Yamaha first inked its deal with 1Ltd
to commercialise that UK company’s innovative sound
projection technology, I wonder if it knew it was about
to create an entirely sub category of home cinema products.
Maybe not, but that’s exactly what has happened. Its YSP
range is now surrounded by numerous knock-offs and eager
lookalikes from a host of brands all eager to offer the
convenience of a single-box surround sound solution. Each rival
has its own approach, but all their jealous green eyes remain
focused on Yamaha, the acknowledged market leader.”
